@jorgeq DOES #INSPIREDBYSOUND TAKEOVER, APRIL 24, 2015
Whenever we can, we have photographers takeover our Instagram page for a weekend to talk music and show how their photography is #InspiredBySound. This past weekend we had Jorge Quinteros (@jorgeq) takeover. See either our feed or below on how music inspires his photography.
Hello! Jorge (@jorgeq) here to share a few of my photos with you for Grado’s #InspiredBySound takeover. This will be a series on how music (song, artist or album) or a certain sound inspired or influenced my photos but before I start, he’s a little about myself 1. Born and raised in Queens, NY although I also lived in El Salvador for 5 years between age 12-17 2. I tend to have an affinity for portraiture, a lot of which arose from having worked in retail, mingling with people and endless hours of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations where I’ve learn that everyone has a story & it’s a matter of you being interested to learn about it 3. While I was standing at the edge of this cliff, all I can think of in the 25 degree temperature was of Eminem’s ‘Till I Collapse. Heck of thing to think about Photo by @senenllanos
Even in the most awesome of home offices, I think we can still fall into a routine, and a routine is the enemy of creativity. I like the idea of changing your environment, even just for a day because it brings new types of input and stimulation, which in turn stimulates creativity and inspiration. I enjoy typing away on the laptop while listening to instrumental soundtrack from films such as The Dark Knight’s Aggressive Expansion by Hans Zimmer & Newton Howard – @jorgeq #InspiredBySound

I’ve always enjoyed traveling, whether it involves a weekend trip or a full fledge flight. I love investing on experiences rather than material stuff. In fact, there’s actual science behind why you should spend money on the former. Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods. Recently 4 friends and I rented a car & made the 5hr drive up to Rochester, NY & you can view the entire narrative & visual essay via link on my profile. Tunes varies from Pop, Latin and R&B as it made the entire ride much more exciting. – @jorgeq #InspiredByTunes
Every now and then I get emails asking if I actually live in NY in view of the lack of conventional photographs I share on my Instagram. But once in a while, I stumble across a unique spot that offers me the amazing opportunity to showcase this awesome city I live in. The temperature was unbearable, but the end result was worth it. Playing on my iPhone was Drake’s Started From the Bottom which I thought was fitting. Thank you all for sticking around for my #InspiredBySound takeover this weekend. A special thanks to @jongrado for the opportunity. – @jorgeq
