Every year we’re fortunate enough to work on a handful of limited editions, which to us are Grado headphones that we get to experiment with and collaborate on without altering our main line. Whether it’s for an Oscar winning movie, our family’s favorite cookie, or whiskey-aged barrels, we enjoy bringing them all from a drawing on paper to something you can enjoy. This one is pretty unique though – we created the first ever headphones out of a motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson x Grado.
Motorcyclist magazine and Harley-Davidson reached out to us asking if it was even possible to begin with, and there’s only one way to find out for sure. We figured out it was possible when we focused on the Street 750cc pistons. For the first time as well, we lathed wood in the metal of the housing. There were a lot of “firsts” in this project, and now that we know these techniques are not only possible but sound great, we’re excited to see where these can be applied in the future.
